I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Thereapy. CBT is useful in working with issues of depression and anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorders. 

Brief strategic family therapy training is useful in working with parents and teens on power struggles.

It is my goal to educate and empower my clients,  providing them with the tools necessary to work through their most difficult challenges with minimal effort.

Theresa Britton, LMSW

I am a University of Michigan alum that specializes in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) skills such as emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness, all of which are useful when facing everyday struggles no matter the individual. With the core components of empowerment, self-care, and mindfulness, I implement a nonjudgmental, safe space where you can unpack and process through difficult thoughts and emotions under a patient-centered framework.

 

Although I am open to working with clients of all backgrounds, I am well-versed in working with:

Getting Help

  • Verifying health insurance benefits/ making financial arrangements.

  • A completed psycho-social assessment on the first date of service and legal paperwork.

  • During the initial session, the therapist will gather information about you and your situation

  • Opportunity to explore expectations and goals for therapy.

  • Therapist expectations for treatment participation explained. 

  • Recommendations for reading and homework.

If using health insurance, we recommend you call them to enquire about your outpatient mental health benefit details.

  • Deductible amount and responsibility

  • Co-payment and/or co-insurance responsibilities
